Why I've Been Absent

Image
Hey there stranger, it's so nice to talk to you again! Long time no see, so here's the tea. I've been in a dry season, and if you're anything like me, that statement always seems to be a bit confusing, so let me explain. After creating my blog last July, posting content I love and starting my junior year of high school, my well of inspiration and motivation ran dry. I had no clue what to post, how to connect and ultimately what I needed to learn from this season. On top of the dry season, my course load and extracurricular activities became an overwhelming feeling on my shoulders. As a result, the blog inevitably took a major back seat. At the start of this year, I prayed and made a commitment to being intentional with my efforts and time and sought to reclaim my position as a dedicated blogger. The one thing I learned from this past season is that God never leaves nor changes. Through all the confusion and frustration not knowing what to post or what to study, ...

Viewing yourself through God's eyes!

Image
As a female in this society, we struggle with body image and self-esteem more than others. Daily, I struggle with the constant comparing of myself to other women around me. From the uneven tone of my skin, to my not so flat tummy, and even the texture and thickness of my hair. However, as I begin to grow into my own skin I'm starting to realize that the constant comparing doesn't benefit me in any way. In my walk with Christ, I strive to learn more and more of who he is so that I may find myself in him. When I'm constantly comparing myself to others, I miss out on understanding how God sees me. Body Image and Self-Esteem have the most impact on a person's well being. By definition body image is a person's perception of their physical self and the thoughts and feelings, positive, negative or both, which result from that perception. One reason why we struggle to understand who we are and who we are meant to be is because we focus on the outward appea...

Being Accountable in Christ!

Image
Accountability and Encouragement! Me (left), Shelby (middle), Brooklyn aka my Sissy (right) Having people in your life that keeps you accountable and on the right path is a tremendous blessing. Sometimes in life, we often find ourselves not living up to our full potential in Christ. I believe that God puts certain people in your life that help you reach that potential. The Bible speaks on accountability, and it states, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Philippians 2:3-4 When I sometimes get out of line and I become blind to sin, I know that I have God fearing women in my life that will come to me out of love and tell me that I'm doing wrong. I know that they have my best interests at heart. My Grandma AKA BFF I have many prayer warriors in my life which have been one of the biggest blessings. Many people li...

Strong Prayer Life, is the best kind of Life!

Image
Being able to pray and talk to God is one of the biggest blessings in my life. In many countries being a Christian is punishable by death! I have been so blessed to be able proclaim that Jesus is Lord, he has risen, and is coming soon. Being a Christian is a privilege but it doesn't come without it's struggles. On a daily basis, as Christians we have to have mini heart checks. Which allow us to make sure that we stay on the path that is going towards Jesus. Sometimes we miss our check ups with God and we begin to feel like life is insurmountable. When life starts to feel like it's too hard to handle go to God in prayer! Praying and studying your Bible daily is the recipe for living a life not struggle free, but a life with the tools to handle such struggles. The Bible speaks on the power that God has in Isaiah 40:28, and it says, "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or...

Modesty is not for Men, Its for My God!

Image
Modesty is one of the main topics in the church that is either over taught or hardly mentioned. The type of modesty taught to so many young and impressionable Christian girls is, you need to cover up so that you do not become a stumbling block of sin for your brothers in Christ .   However, the teachings of my parents on modesty are quite different. My parents taught me to honor the Lord that I serve with the clothes I wear, how I treat others, the language I use, etc. Not once did they mention how men are visual creatures who cannot control themselves. They also didn't capitalize on the "emotional aspect" of young ladies. They focused more on the importance of understanding who I was and whose I was.   The Bible speaks on modesty in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 and it says, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God wi...

About Me

Image
Hello, welcome to my blog! My name is As iah, and this is my story. On a simple not so special day, my father said something that struck a chord within me. He plainly stated, that since I was “too uncomfortable” to tell my story in front of a camera, I should do so from behind my computer screen. Low and behold, citizens of the world, here we are! My goal for this blog is to share my journey of living for the Lord in everything. In fashion, beauty, missions, who I am as a person, and how I choose to live my life. When coming up with the previously mentioned ideas, my father and I took a stroll to the elementary school across the street from my house. As we walk, my father starts to do this weird looking exercise. While exercising, he asks what do you want to express to your readers? Looking ridiculous, it was hard to take him seriously. Although, the question made me think and ultimately, I want to express to YOU that there is no reason for you to be ashamed for serving the L...
